The setup

In this neon city everyone sells memories, and Olivia only carries them, bound by a single commandment: no peeking inside the chip. Sable keeps teasing her about it, and one night the dare wins. Episode 1 drops her into a stranger's memory, an intimate night with a man called Kael, and partway through he says her full name, which she has never told anyone. How is she in his memory? Episode 2 pushes the mystery outside the chip: a warning to bring back whatever she took and never dive it again, a man who says the megacorp wiped him from its records a year ago, and a hidden file that somebody insists can wait.

Why it earns its number

Most of the collection lives in bedrooms and offices; this is a cyberpunk mystery with its own heartbeat. The memory gimmick lets a love scene double as a clue, and the story keeps asking who is watching whom. A plot with a puzzle at its center is rare on this shelf.
