Under Holly’s Command

The setup

Sergeant Holly runs her formation with a drill-instructor stare and a sixth sense for wandering eyes. Her corporal shows up late to it, and he is not subtle. Episode 1 has him dressed down in front of everyone, ordered to her cabin and sentenced to a punishment she seems to have been planning for a while, right up to the moment the General strides in. Episode 2 turns on a convenient injury: Holly's hips are out of line, the corporal volunteers his chiropractic talents, and Jessica, a fellow soldier who has noticed more than she lets on, is watching. Holly's own rule: nobody lays hands on her and gets off lightly.

Why it earns its number

Military discipline gives the story its own rhythm: salutes, orders, a rank structure to abuse and a chain of command that makes every secret riskier. Holly, a recurring face in the collection, is at her most commanding in uniform, and the extra soldier adds a rivalry that keeps the pace up.

Who should collect it: For viewers who like a woman in command, a rule-bound setting and a nervous hero who keeps getting caught.
