The setup

Mona likes her world organized and her opinions loud. David, her stepbrother, is the walking exception. Episode 1 catches her mid-chant for the planet until his car horn ends the speech, and the ride home becomes a contest of who's staring at whom while insisting they aren't. Their parents are out working, so the two of them have the place to themselves. In episode 2 the dishes turn into currency: he dangles an evening out if she handles the chore, hands her an outfit afterward, and she acts like she hates every minute of it. The insults keep landing softer than they should.

Why it earns its number

Fifteen episodes of pure sparring. What sets Mona's story apart from the other stepsibling shelves is that the fight is the flirting, with no sulky silences between rounds. She also turns up elsewhere in the collection, so you can compare her with the Mona who gets to choose her company.
