Boss Paid Me to Watch His Wife

The setup

Nate takes the job his boss offers: look after the wife for a week while the boss is in Singapore. Nate keeps her in sight beside the pool and reports in by phone, and he's told to watch every move. The wife, Lucy, notices the money, and the moment her husband's car leaves she's changed into something red. She also teaches Nate what to tell him on the nightly call. Then the boss changes the plan: stay overnight, because Lucy gets nervous alone. Episode 2: the boss calls again and sends Nate to check on his wife in the bedroom, where Lucy is waiting.

Why it earns its number

Cheating wives and Cuckold both claim it, and the double-bind is why: the husband's phone calls are the thread that holds everything together. Nate is the employee, the witness and the problem, and the tension lives in that single phone line.

Who should collect it: For collectors who like a story where the boss's orders get taken a little too literally.
