The New Girl

The setup

It's his first day somewhere new, and his girlfriend Chloe has told him to be good. Then he meets another newcomer in the hall, equally lost, and she asks if he's attached. He is. She says lucky her, remembers she forgot her books, and invites him to carry them from her dorm room, five minutes tops. Inside, she shuts the door and announces she wants to show him something that isn't in any lecture. Episode 2 is the phone call: Chloe rings, the courtyard is mentioned, and the new arrival tells him to answer. He claims to have another class. She smiles. It's ten minutes.

Why it earns its number

A story built to move fast: a newcomer, a locked door and a ticking phone, and everything runs at a first-day sprint. The girlfriend's calls are the real villain, and the short fuse is what keeps it so tense. It belongs to our Quick finish set for a reason.

Who should collect it: For a short evening and a guilty-pleasure plot: a new face, a locked door and terrible timing.
