The setup
For weeks, Prince Theron has seen one woman whenever he sleeps, and the visions feel more like memories than fantasy. Then his father, the king, returns with a new bride, Queen Lysandra, and her face is the one from the dreams. She remembers him too. An oracle chooses that moment to warn the court that a serpent has entered the marriage bed, and gets dragged away. In episode 2, Lysandra explains that Aphrodite visited her and described a prophecy in which the prince claims both the queen and the throne. The gods lock the doors on the pair, and they are watching.
Why it earns its number
Myth does the heavy lifting here. A prophecy, a divine matchmaker and a king who has no idea turn the stepmom taboo into a fate nobody asked for. It is the grandest costume drama on the Stepmom, Cuckold and Fantasy shelves.
Who should collect it: For fans of mythology, palace intrigue and forbidden love stories that blame the gods.
