House Rules

The setup

Dad is away on business, so the stepson heads home from college and finds Veronica, his father's wife, waiting with open arms and a list: first rule, obey her every command; second, no calls to the girlfriend today. He tries to protest that he's taken. Veronica waves it away, announces the hot tub is heating up, and orders him to the shower in ten minutes. Episode 2 brings a hesitant stepson, a stepmother who reminds him he can't pretend he slept through last night, a rule number four, and the girlfriend arriving at the front door right on cue.

Why it earns its number

Veronica turns the house into a rulebook, and the escalation is the point: a numbered list of commands, a girlfriend on the way and a full week of parental absence. What sets it apart in the Stepmom lineup is how methodically she plays it, rule by rule.

Who should collect it: For anyone who likes a confident, bossy stepmother and a guy who keeps insisting he's taken.
