My Girlfriend's Stepmom

The setup

Day one at his girlfriend Chloe's family home, and Jake has already been briefed on the house policy: nothing stays private here. Chloe's stepmom, Dana, makes the point by meeting him in the least convenient place imaginable, then acting as though that was routine. Chloe looks more amused than sorry. Episode 2 is where the tradition arrives: Chloe's boyfriends all get a turn with Dana, who has rules of her own. Rule one is hands off until she says. Rule two is a glance she's already waiting for. Jake gets two minutes, an instruction not to move, and the feeling that nobody asked him.

Why it earns its number

The setup is a checklist, rule one, rule two, family tradition, and the fun is how calmly Dana runs it. She's the host, the referee and the plot. Compared with other stepmom stories, this one is built like a game, with a clock and a rulebook.

Who should collect it: For anyone who enjoys a confident older woman setting the terms and a nervous guy realizing there's no exit.
