My bestie betrayed me

The setup

Emma goes hunting for her boyfriend, Ryan, certain he's upstairs, and she's right. What she finds there is her best friend Mia, and Ryan's first move is the classic: it's not what it looks like. Episode 1 is built around that single discovery. Episode 2 picks up the morning after. Ryan blames Mia and the drinking, insists it meant nothing and warns Emma not to make a scene because no one will take her word over his. Her answer, handing him over to Mia like returned merchandise, is the first sign that this heartbreak isn't going to stay quiet. Thirty-four episodes lie ahead, so there is a lot of aftermath to come.

Why it earns its number

At thirty-four episodes, this is among the longest runs in the Taboo and Long runs sets, and it opens on a clean, simple hook: betrayal, denial, a heroine who refuses to stay hurt. Nothing in the first two episodes feels padded.

Who should collect it: For anyone who wants a revenge story with a long runway, a wronged heroine and a good reason to keep pressing play.
