Room Service

The setup

On their fifth anniversary, in the hotel room they've booked five years running, a couple orders fruit. The wife heads to the shower, and room service returns with yesterday's order again. He doesn't even like fruit, and the maid knows it. She says he simply likes watching her work. Behind the bathroom door the wife wants to know who he's talking to. Episode 2 sharpens the game: she's in the shower, he's at the door, a request for conditioner lets the maid walk right past the wife, and the clock reads twelve minutes. Nothing else needs saying. Good thing, because the husband has ten minutes' worth of reasons.

Why it earns its number

The Maid set could be about uniforms. This one is about timing: a bathroom door, a running shower, a husband who can't speak freely, and a maid who knows it. The tension comes from how close everything happens to a wife who is a few steps and a minute from walking out.

Who should collect it: For anyone who likes a close-call comedy with the clock running and a husband who's terrible at lying.
