The setup

A new priest is settling into a small-town parish and is already well liked. After a Sunday service, Mika, a college-age parishioner, lingers to praise the sermon, singling out his lines on resisting temptation. A confession follows: she has been having thoughts about her new priest. Episode 1 plays that opening both ways, with a cold open where she dares him to tell her to stop and he does not quite manage it. Episode 2 carries the cat-and-mouse into the confessional: she asks how close temptation can get before it counts as sin, he says she should not talk this way, and she asks whether she should describe what she imagined.

Why it earns its number

It is a confessional drama, which is rare on these shelves, and the setting does half the work: pews, candles, a collar and whispers that carry. The tension is restraint instead of speed, since both people know exactly what the other is doing. A slow burn that plays with ritual without raising its voice.
