Every Wife on Candy Lane

The setup

On Candy Lane the husbands leave for work, and a flag out front tells the neighborhood that a wife needs a hand. Our hero is the plumber, and he takes the job seriously. Episode 1 starts with Harriet, his brother's wife, and a kitchen pipe that keeps leaking no matter how tightly he fits it. A flashlight, a few drips and a very long look steer the visit somewhere other than plumbing. In episode 2 Mrs. Vance and Mrs. Morello arrive from down the street, announce that every wife on the street gets a turn and invite him to see about all of them. The rounds are just getting started.

Why it earns its number

An ensemble of neighbors replaces the usual single heroine: behind each door is a different woman with her own mood and rules, so the series plays like a neighborhood tour where each door is a fresh episode. The plumber becomes a local legend, and the dry humor sells the premise.

Who should collect it: For anyone who enjoys variety, with a different woman behind every door and a hero who can't say no.
