YES, DIRECTOR

The setup

A company is losing money, a meeting is going badly, and a junior employee lets his eyes wander somewhere they shouldn't. The Director notices. She makes him squirm in front of everyone, asks whether he wants to keep his job, then pulls him aside to explain that her husband owns the company and sacks people faster than a coffee cools. There's a way to survive: do something for her, quietly, nothing that ever shows up in an email. Meet her at night in her office with a presentation. Episode 2 is that night, with a husband on the phone saying don't wait up, a strategy slide she picks apart, and a lot of obedience.

Why it earns its number

Office-romance stories usually flirt with HR. This one skips straight to the boardroom, with a power gap that is the whole premise: she owns the room, he owns a spreadsheet and a lot of regret. The humor is dry and corporate, and a slide deck has never been so tense.

Who should collect it: For anyone who likes a power play in business casual, where the quarterly review is only the warm-up.
