Talia Undercover

The setup

Talia Reid has talked her way into the most guarded office at a biotech company: personal assistant to Mr. Vaughn, whose executive floor is as hushed as it is ambitious. She is there to find out what the place is really hiding. Episode 1 is the interview and the tour, a quiz in several languages, a question about whether she's single, and a warning that the pay and power come with a price. In episode 2 she flies with him on a business trip, meets his wife Viviana, and slips off to the bathroom, where her boss has instructions about the door. Spycraft or flirtation? She isn't sure either.

Why it earns its number

This is the collection's office thriller: an investigator in a corporate tower, a boss who tests her before he trusts her, and a job that doubles as a cover story. No stepfamily and no taboo tie, just boardroom intrigue with a charming executive. It sits outside every named set, and the stakes are secrets rather than relatives.

Who should collect it: For anyone who prefers espionage to family drama and likes a heroine who talks fast and thinks faster.
