Old Friends, New Sins

The setup

Niko's business has collapsed, and he confides it to his best friend over dinner. When he steps away to settle the check, his girlfriend Dasha turns to the friend and sizes him up: looks are free, she says, but he probably can't afford her. Then Niko's card is declined, the friend covers the bill without fuss, and Dasha notices, as she notices everything with a price tag. Episode 1 ends with Dasha daring him to learn her price. In episode 2 the evening winds down, a grateful and exhausted Niko invites him to crash at their place, and the guest wing turns out to be very private.

Why it earns its number

Money trouble is the engine here, not just the temptation. Dasha's luxury depends on Niko's bank balance, and the friend with nothing to prove is the one person unimpressed by her. That reversal, the pursuer who is not pursued, is the hook.

Who should collect it: For people who like a power-shift story where the confident one gets flustered by someone who declines to chase her.
